Uniq Fruit Salad

Yesterday we celebrated my grandmother's 70th birthday! My mom and I were assigned to bring fruit salad for dessert (as well as a cake of course), so we stopped at Wegman's before heading to the party. We decided we didn't want any ordinary fruit salad, and since Wegman's has so many great and fresh fruits we tried something new! Have you ever heard or Uniq or Ugli fruit? Neither had I, until yesterday. It is the size of a grapefruit, but is much softer and greener in color. I'll let you see for yourself...

My little cousin Nicki was just as intrigued as I was. This fruit is more sour than an orange but not as bitter as a tangerine or grapefruit. If you buy one of these be sure to get all of the "veins" out since they tend to have a bitter taste.

We added strawberries, blackberries, mini tangerines, pineapple, watermelon, grapes and uniq fruit to the salad to enjoy for dessert!

How trendy is my grandmother? She makes headbands too! I have learned all of my craftiness from her. Girlfriend has serious talent and I can only hope that one day I will be as gifted as her with my sewing machine.

Of course Ollie came to the party as well! It was the first time he met many of my aunts and cousins. He loves meeting new people.

You can't really tell, but Ollie in the middle of all of my little cousins and loving every minute of the attention!

Happy birthday Mammy! We love you.

If you can't tell, I love being home with my family. There isn't anywhere else I would rather be...

...Ollie agrees :)

Jeff and I are in the process of checking off another item from our Bucket List. It is probably one of the must difficult things on there. Want to know what it is? Check back later tonight to see! There will also be a giveaway coming later in the week so stay tuned for that as well...

It's officially wedding season...

If you didn't know already, I love weddings! I loved planning my own wedding and especially love attending weddings that other people have worked so hard to plan. Last summer Jeff and I attended 5 weddings. Although we don't have that many this summer, we still have a few and today we celebrated the first-Charles and Amber! Jeff roomed with Charles throughout college and all four of us quickly became friends as we often double dated throughout our junior and senior years. Charles stood by our side as a groomsman in our wedding and Jeff was honored when Charles asked him to do the same for them...

I wasn't able to take many pictures during the ceremony, but thankfully had a lot of opportunities to get some great shots at the reception! If the groom wasn't wearing white, would you be able to tell which one Charles was? Probably not! Neither could some of the guests ;) Oh the joys of being identical twins.

Best friends above and below.

First dance. I love this picture.

I also got my groove on...(dress-boutique in OCNJ, sweater-Gap, shoes-H&M).

This poor guy thought he was putting the garter on the beautiful blonde bridesmaid who caught the bouquet. Little did he know, it was actually a hairy man leg...

I can't help but smile when I look at this next picture. The guys in this photo are all of Jeff's roommates his senior year at Messiah. The girls are the significant others :) One thing I love most about Messiah (our undergraduate college) is the great friendships that we made there.

So incredibly happy for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rowdon. So very jealous of their honeymoon in Mexico this next week as well...

Philadelphia Marathon Training

It's official. Jeff and I are registered for the Philadelphia Marathon on November 20th this coming fall! I ran the half marathon (which is the same course as the full just shorter) and loved it. Jeff and I have always talked about wanting to run a full marathon and decided the time was perfect! Because training is very time consuming, this summer is perfect for us. Jeff has off of school for a month and I will not be working, giving us time to focus on our long runs. We will finally be able to cross this goal off of our bucket list!

Each week I will dedicate a post about our training update. We will begin this week so that we are in perfect shape for these 26.2 miles! The furthest I have ever run is the 13 miles for the half last year, so my body has some work to do. I cannot wait to accomplish this with my husband by my side. Wish us luck!

(photos from last year Philly Half Marathon)

I had a blast running with my two best friends, but am even more excited to do this with Jeff!

Jeff and I have a few goals for this race which we still are finalizing. My goal with my friends last year was simply not to walk-we wanted to run the entire thing to the best of our ability. However because I have improved as a runner this past year, Jeff and I will most likely set some time goals for ourselves!

Are you running any upcoming races? If not, you should really join in on the Philly fun! There is also a half marathon and 8k the same morning. Won't you join us? :)
