A Dinner Date & Gingerbread Men
Last night we went out to eat with our friends Lauren & Fritz Zietsman. Lauren and Jeff are in the same PT class at Stony Brook and instead of paying 80 dollars per ticket to go to the "PT Prom" their class had last night, we were MUCH cooler and took ourselves out to eat! We dined at John Harvards, a local brewery and had ourselves a grand old time.
Fritz tried a few of their beers before choosing one so we each had a little taste too...
The lovely Mr. and Mrs. Zeitsman.
The Jensens (sorry for the awkward lighting covering the top half of Jeff's head).
Jeff and I ordered fried calamari for an appetizer. We ate this every single day on our honeymoon in St. Lucia at one of our favorite lunch restaurants! It was definitely a treat.
The bread was DELICIOUS.
A fellow food blogger taking pictures, of course :) If only everyone understood that we had food blogs and didn't think we were just weirdos taking several pictures of our food before eating it. Lauren ordered the "Garden Burger" which was a veggie burger topped with mushrooms and mozz cheese and peppers. I had a bite and it was great!
The boys ordered burgers and I had soup and a salad since I did a lot of eating prior to dinner (with the calamari and bread). I didn't take pictures because I was just too darn hungry and wanted to start eating. So, we ate and chatted then snapped a few more pictures outside of the restaurant.
THE SITUATION.
Overall it was a great date! Not because of the food, but because of the company :) We are so thankful to have such great friends only 2.2 miles away from us.
Today we invited our neighbor friends over to make gingerbread men. I used a recipe from Sweet Pea's Kitchen and was so glad I did! They turned out chewy just as she said they would. I'm not going to list the recipe since I didn't adapt it at all. Just go to her website if you would like to make these delicious soft & chewy cookies! Here are some pictures of our day:
Lots of icing and candy of course!
The mix.
Jeff & Logan making/eating their cookies...
This is what happens when you hand a 4 year old a bottle of sprinkles without supervision. Oops!
All of the boys and their cookies :) What a fun day...
When is the last time you hung out with your neighbors?

I love this post! It looks like you guys had a blast making these! The picture of the gingerbread man with all the sprinkles cracks me up! :) I am so happy that you guys enjoyed them, they are one of my favorites!
Really cute making the gingerbread men with the boys! We are planning a giant gingerbread house extravanganza when we go to Calgary! Also...you spelled our name wrong ;) Zietsman! C'mon CAIT!
Ha AH! I said to Jeff before writing this..."Does the "i" or "e" come first and he confirmed that I was correct! So, lets blame it on Jeff :) fixing it now...I suck!
When we first started dating I always had to say "I before E except after C" to myself whenever I wrote his last name...so you aren't along! And I'm definitely willing to blame Jeff ;)
