PB & J Sushi

I must apologize for the lack of food posts/recipes this week. Since Jeff and I are living off of $1.00 a day, there isn't much food to make or blog about! There is, however, peanut butter and jelly. And lots of it. I actually attempted to make pb & j sushi before, but realized that I didn't do such a great job and wanted to try again with Jeff's help. This week was perfect for my second try! For some reason, the pb & j tasted so much better rolled up in sushi form instead of on plain old bread.

If you didn't know already, I absolutely hate sushi. My mom, dad and I tried it for the first time together last year and all gagged. I spit it out almost immediately. See for yourself...

Peanut butter and jelly sushi I can handle. I think most kids would find it fun as well!

So next time you have a party with kiddos involved (or are simply bored of your normal pb & j sandwich) make these bad boys. Don't forget your chopsticks!

They added a lot of excitement to our dinner this specific ($1.00 a day) week! We have learned a lot from this experience-mostly to appreciate food and how blessed we are to be able to eat pretty much whatever we want whenever we want.

I love sushi but I guess it's one of those hate it or like it kind of foods and maybe because some of my favorite foods are rice, fish, and roasted seaweed...
Oh well, at least you tried it right? :D

OMG, I can't believe you guys are able to live off 1 dollar a day. But it's incredible how you are being creative with it.

Pretty-I will try it again with you! I know so many people who love it (like you) so I need to give it another shot. Maybe if we dress up and go to a fancy sushi restaurant it will taste better? And maybe they will have pb & j sushi for dessert?

BWA HA! That's a hilarious video! Although, I fear you really are missing an amazing type of food :) The PB&J rolls are a brilliant alternative though.

This is adorable, but what do you hate about sushi? Maybe you can avoid a specific ingredient? I eat sushi at least once a week and have done so since as long as I can remember. I adore it! But there are a few foods I dislike and I will retry them about once a year, just to make sure I still hate it. Tastes do change. I used to hate mushrooms but now I adore them.

We were dining at a nice Japanese restaurant once with a friend that had never tried sushi. We dared him to try some and like you, he almost threw up at the table. We felt awful afterwards since his meal was ruined and he felt ill. For him it was more that he didn't like the taste of fish, so eating raw salmon sushi in public was probably not a good idea!
